SCOTUS, Advocacy ,Final Four and RGP lab.

I hope everyone enjoyed St Patrick's Day.  In case you are not aware the Supreme Court  of the United States (SCOTUS) is hearing arguments on the constitutionality of the ACA.  I am waiting to see how this would play out regarding the states exchanges. It could have a huge impact on all the work we have been doing on the legislative front.

MOA is preparing to head to Washington DC next Monday and Tuesday to help the AOA with Advocacy. State Government relations and Third party planning conference's have been combined. It should make for an interesting meeting.

I was notified today that our AOA Keyperson OD co-ordinator has resigned effective immediately,  and will not be attending the meeting. This was unexpected and has put us in a bind. If you are interested in filling this position please contact me ASAP.

I love March madness, I was not too upset that Duke and Missouri got beat in the first round but it did bust my bracket.

I took my intern to Euclid Systems this morning so he could see first hand how RGP lenses are made from start to finish. The technology and lathe's were quite impressive.

I will check in again after the conference.
Talk soon

President Obama made me late!!

It is not every day you here that excuse from a patient but it happened this morning. Turns out the President made an  unscheduled visit to the Texas Ribs restaurant two buildings down from my office. The police shut down the street and blocked entrance to my parking lot. As word got out everyone that worked in the surrounding area started lining the street to watch the parade.  Check the story out here.  I know Tracie is thinking I should have been in the restaurant to talk to Ben Cardin.

I spent last night at Andy Morgenstern's office for a wonderful CE that included live patients to see. The one that impressed me the most had LASIK and corneal cross linking on the same day. They had over 60 people in attendance.

The legislative front was slow this week and I am prepping for our monthly board meeting Tuesday night.

Happy St Patrick's.. Have a Guinness for me.. Talk soon

March Madness

After preparing my monthly President's Report I realized I have not posted to the blog in a while. I started the week with our 8 am legislative conference call , I must say the dealings in Annapolis are either breakneck speed or not on the radar.  We have had some favorable ruling on bills involving Optometry, and we will report back to you at close of session.

As I hung up the phone I took my intern to see cataract surgery and headed back to the office for afternoon patients.  Wednesday on my lunch I watched my  Huskies in the Big East Tournament. Gotta love afternoon hoops on the internet.

I made reservations for the AOA Advocacy Conference, Vision Expo East and Optometry's Meeting this week, as well as changing my office web site.  check it out here.

I am looking forward to the warm weather this weekend to watch my son play in his first high school lacrosse tournament Saturday.

Hope to see all of you Sunday at the Wilmer/MOA CE event.
